Job Corps launches new career training offerings, including Weatherization Technician, Overhead Line Construction, Smart Meter Technician, Underground Residential Distribution, and Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal System Installer.

Environmentally friendly practices are implemented on centers and into all training programs.

Career Success Standards are introduced into the curriculum at all Job Corps centers. Standards include Independent Living, Interpersonal Skills, Workplace Relationships and Ethics, Multicultural Awareness, and more.

Job Corps celebrates 40 years of service and has one of the highest job placement rates among the nation’s job training programs.

U.S. Department of Labor signs agreement with U.S. Department of Education, leading to the High School Diploma Initiative, which increases Job Corps students’ earning potential through the acquisition of a high school diploma.
