Kittrell Job Corps Center recently announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Job Corps.
Started in 1964 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty, the program provides career technical training and education for low-income young people ages 16 through 24. It is the nation’s largest and oldest federally-funded career training and education program. The program enrolls nearly 60,000 students annually at 125 Job Corps centers across the country.
