Job Corps hits 50 years of changing lives; celebration held in San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO >> “I’m on fire,” said Francisco Matias of his career path to be a master chef — a giant step from being homeless on the streets of Los Angeles less than a year ago.

Matias is one of about 300 youths in the Inland Empire Job Corps Center, located here.

Shortly he will be shipping off to advanced culinary training at a Job Corps facility in San Francisco.
