Distance Learning Update

The NJCA Webinar Series on Distance Learning is off to a great start. Thus far, we’ve held four dynamic webinars that have energized our community to embrace new teaching and learning modalities that Distance Learning provides us. These sessions are currently being held on Thursdays at 11 AM EDT. Our Distance Learning “A” Team is comprised of Roxanne Chin, Center Director, Phoenix JCC, Odle Management Group; Beverly Gilbert, Director of Professional Development, SIATECH, Inc.; Erik Hensley, Managing Director-Job Corps, Penn Foster; and Becky Johnston, Director, MTC Institute, MTC. We appreciate their dedication, enthusiasm and expertise. They have brought in phenomenal presenters from their organizations and centers who have shared their actual experiences with our Job Corps community that “we can do this” and enrich the learning experience for of our students.

We recognize that centers are using several methods to re-engage our students, including the Google Suite Platform as our primary platform to deliver distance learning. Future sessions will incorporate the myriad of applications that can be utilized by our Job Corps community. Feel free to visit our distance learning website  http://www.njcaweb.org/resource-library-distance-learning/ to access resources and view our sessions to date.   Sessions included topics such as Social-Emotional Learning, Reengagement, Creating Your First Google Classroom, and Reconnecting with Students to name a few. We will be constantly sharing slides, handouts, and other materials as we receive them. Be sure to send us your feedback on future sessions you would like the NJCA to develop for our community.
