When she was growing up, Tulsa Job Corps graduate Courtney Dixon talked back. Had a problem with authority figures. She liked to skip school.
Her parents fretted and did their best to guide her. Her mother, who works in the municipal court system in Fort Worth, Texas, assured her that one day, she’d have a job that would be put in jeopardy if she couldn’t control her mouth. Dixon didn’t listen.
“I was a stubborn child,” she said.
